COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLBEING

COMMUNITY HEALTH AND WELLBEING

The goal of this program is to improve public health outcomes by addressing the environmental determinants of health and strengthening local health capacity. Our objective is to improve public health outcomes by addressing the fundamental connection between a healthy environment and human wellness. We work to reduce environmental determinants of disease by protecting watersheds to ensure clean water, supporting local health facilities with equipment and training, and organizing targeted health campaigns on issues such as zoonotic diseases and sanitation. We provide direct medical assistance to the most vulnerable, ensuring that conservation success is mirrored by improvements in community health and resilience.

  Key Activities:

  1. WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) through Conservation: Protect and rehabilitate water catchments (linked to Program 1); construct/repair boreholes or springs; promote construction of improved, ventilated pit latrines.
  2. Zoonotic Disease & One Health Awareness: Conduct workshops with hunters, farmers, and health workers on disease transmission between wildlife/livestock/humans, and safe practices.
  3. Mobile Clinic Support & Health Campaigns: Organize periodic mobile clinics for remote villages. Support local health posts with basic equipment and run campaigns on malaria prevention, nutrition (linked to agroecology), and maternal health.
