BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION AND ECOSYSTEM PROTECTION

This program takes primary consideration of endangered species with special focus on the threatened species listed on the IUCN Redlist. Our Aim is to stabilize and increase key wildlife populations and restore critical habitats through collaborative, community-based protection and science-informed restoration. More specifically, the program ensures the long-term protection of species and their habitats. This involves direct actions to conserve and recover endangered wildlife populations through research, protection, and anti-poaching efforts, alongside the active restoration of degraded forests, wetlands, and other critical ecosystems using both scientific and traditional methods. We are committed to strengthening the collaborative and effective management of protected areas by building partnerships, enhancing ranger capacity, and implementing robust monitoring systems that involve local communities.

Key Activities:

    1. Community Wildlife & Habitat Monitoring: Train and equip local community members (including Stewards of Tomorrow graduates) as citizen scientists to monitor species (via camera traps, Acoustic, Recce and transects) and report threats (snaring, illegal logging).
    2. Collaborative Management Partnerships: Formalize agreements with protected area authorities to co-manage zones, defining roles for community patrols (complementing official rangers), conflict mitigation, and benefit-sharing.
    3. Habitat Restoration: Establish community nurseries for native tree species. Employ teams (with priority for youth/women) to restore degraded corridors, riverbanks, and forest gaps, using mixed native species
